Who is a part of the Libertarian Activist Network?
We are students at the University of Florida who share the ideals of our Founding Fathers. We're a diverse group that consists of Libertarians, capitalists, minarchists, anarcho-capitalists, Objectivists, free-marketeers, les gens laissez-faire, Austrian-school economists, and anyone who feels that less government is better government.
What are your goals?
The L.A.N. basically describes itself. It is a network of University of Florida students who share libertarian principles and actively work to spread the libertarian message with education, student outreach, protests, boycotts, good ol' fashioned civil disobedience, and through local, state, and national campaigns.
Why haven't I heard of Libertarianism before?
You most likely have, except you didn't have a name for it. The problem arises from the false dichotomy between left and right, liberal and conservative, Democrat and Republican, which is created by a two-party system.
Does that mean you're moderates?
No, far from it! The political spectrum is not linear. Instead, one of the best ways to visualize it is with this chart:

Are there any famous Libertarians?
Yes, there are many: Drew Carey, Dixie Carter, Russel Means, Kurt Russell, John Popper (Blues Traveler), Tom Selleck, Jimmie Walker, Clint Eastwood, Denis Leary, Trey Parker, Neal Boortz, Dean Cameron, Penn & Teller, John Stossel, Hugh Downs, Neil Peart (of Rush), U.S. Congressman Ron Paul, Mike Piazza, Larry Elder, Moby, Milton Friedman, Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich Hayek, Murray N. Rothbard, Howard Stern, Ayn Rand, Dave Barry, P.J. O'Rourke, Nathaniel Branden, Dr. Michael Shermer, Terry Pratchett, Robert Heinlein, Matt Drudge, U.S. Congressman Jeff Flake, U.S. Congressman Mark Foley, U.S. Congressman Butch Otter, Richard Branson, Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, Thomas Paine, Adam Smith, and Dr. Demento, to name a few.
What's with the flag?
The flag that many Libertarians use is named after Christopher Gadsden, a colonel in the Continental Army who had led the Sons of Liberty since 1765. The snake has been a defining symbol of the American Revolution ever since Benjamin Franklin in 1751 suggested that, as a way of thanking the British for their practice of sending convicted felons to America, American colonists should send rattlesnakes to England.
